Fruit and Yogurt on Lap-Band Diet?
by Theresa
(Bushkill, PA)
I had lap band surgery on 11/12 - so far I've lost 35 lbs but I seem to be stuck.
I'd like to ask how many fruits can I have a day and do I have to use plain yogurt? I eat Lite and Fit by Dannon with fruit in it, then I add a bunch of blueberries or strawberries.
I also exercise at least 1/2 hr a day.
Thanks in advance

Theresa,
Congrats on the weight you've lost! That's so great!
You can have 2-4 servings of fruit per day based on this
gastric lap-band food pyramid.
One "serving" is 1 cup of berries, 1/2 of a large fruit (e.g., 1/2 banana) or 1 medium whole fruit.
The Dannon Lite and Fit yogurt isn't
too bad, but the Dannon All Natural Plain Nonfat Yogurt is just a bit better. That's because the plain yogurt has a little more protein and less chemicals (artificial stuff) in it!
I know plain yogurt is kind of boring, but you can add your own flavorings...vanilla extract, cinnamon, or even a packet of Splenda to make it taste better. And of course, keep adding your own berries to it.
FYI...Plain nonfat Greek Yogurt is
really good. It's not as bitter tasting as regular plain yogurt, it's higher in protein, and it's kind of creamy tasting. Fage, Stoneyfield Farms, and Trader Joe's are 3 good brands of nonfat greek yogurt.
