Are you considering Gastric bypass? Lap-Band? VSG? Duodenal Switch? Tucson lap-band patients enter here. I may be a registered dietitian but I can't make that decision for you. I can, however, share my professional knowledge with you so that you can make an informed decision.
As your personal nutrition guide, I'm here to tell you about all the aspects of food you'll need to consider before and after weight loss surgery (also called bariatric surgery; hey, if you're considering it, you need to know the lingo!) I have to admit, as a dietitian, I used to be pretty resistant to the notion of surgery for weight loss. I'd been taught to believe that weight loss is about behavioral change and making better food choices, not surgical modification! But the fact is, WLS (Weight Loss Surgery) is here, it's available, and people are having it. It can be life changing...sometimes in a good way and sometimes in a bad way. I'm not here to tell you whether to have the surgery or not I'm simply here to provide you the best nutrition information I can so you can make an informed decision for yourself. The one thing I do want you to walk away from your computer screen understanding is that weight loss surgery is no "magic bullet"... ...it's simply a tool. If you opt for it, I'll help you work with your "tool" so you get the best results you can from it. If after reading what's involved you decide not to go the surgery route, that's ok too! I just want you to do what's best for you. Here's to your successful and safe weight loss journey! One other thing: I struggled long and hard thinking about whether I should post advertising on these pages. (Allowing ads is part of how I can afford to spend so much time writing this free site!) After all, if I let Google place ads on these pages, inevitably they're going to be about gastric bypass, lap band, bariatric surgery, etc. Here's what I decided... You have to live in a world where these surgeries are being promoted to you, so I'm not doing you any favors by creating an artificial world where they aren't. But please remember... If you see any blocks that say "Ads by Google," they are advertisements, just like the ones on TV and in magazines. They're placed by people who want to make money off of you. Take them with a very large grain of salt. Or at least a salt substitute ;-) More weight loss tools. Back to weight loss. Back to Personal Nutrition Guide Home. |
